Microscopy, immunofluorescence assay (IFA) and enzyme immunoassay (EIA).
Learning Objectives:
  1. State the role of ANA testing in the diagnosis of autoimmune rheumatic diseases and list three methods used.
  2. Identify the steps of an indirect immunofluorescence antibody (IFA) procedure and state the purpose of each step.
  3. Identify the steps of an enzyme immunoassay (EIA) procedure and state the purpose of each step.
  4. Describe the function of various components of an epifluorescence microscope and how they influence IFA staining.
