Description:
Testing for antibodies to dsDNA by immunofluorescence using Crithidia luciliae as the substrate.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the following cellular components of Crithidia luciliae: kinetoplast, nucleus, basal body, and flagellum.
- Identify the staining pattern that is produced by antibodies to double stranded DNA (dsDNA).
- Interpret titer results for positive samples.
- Distinguish non-specific reactions from positive anti-dsDNA staining.
