Description:
Testing for antibodies to dsDNA by immunofluorescence using Crithidia luciliae as the substrate.
Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify the following cellular components of Crithidia luciliae: kinetoplast, nucleus, basal body, and flagellum.
  2. Identify the staining pattern that is produced by antibodies to double stranded DNA (dsDNA).
  3. Interpret titer results for positive samples.
  4. Distinguish non-specific reactions from positive anti-dsDNA staining.
