  1. Describe how disease is transmitted through the chain of infection.
  2. Describe the risk of HIV and Hepatitis to health care personnel and the modes of transmission for each.
  3. Define nosocomial infection.
  4. Define standard precautions.
  5. List the steps in the hand washing and hand rubbing procedures.
  6. List the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) used by laboratory personnel and describe how each is used.
  7. Describe isolation procedures and the associated PPE.
  8. Describe the handling of regulated medical waste and cleaning procedures.
  9. Describe the emergency response to a blood or body fluid exposure.
