Description:
Next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology has not only enhanced our ability to identify new disease causing genes, but also enabled a cost effective and efficient way for clinicians to test multiple genes simultaneously. This comes at a time when the value of a genetic diagnosis has never been greater. Once merely limited to confirming a clinical diagnosis, now genetic findings are increasingly impacting medical decisions. This talk discusses how a clinician can optimize use of this technology and minimize burden while ensuring high quality test results.
Learning Objectives:
  1. Discuss the impact of next-generation sequencing on diagnosis of neurological conditions
  2. Discuss the utilization of genetic testing algorithms
  3. Describe the economic value of genetic testing in refractory epilepsy patients
