Description:
Almost as soon as SARS-CoV-2 began to inflict devastating losses across all aspects of daily life worldwide, a remarkable vaccine development race against the virus began in academic and commercial laboratories. This presentation focuses on the underlying science and publicly available human clinical studies for the COVID-19 vaccines currently being deployed in the U.S.
Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify the mechanism of an mRNA vaccine for COVID-19
  2. Discuss the differences between the leading vaccines available under the EUA in the US.
  3. Describe how the selection of different “endpoints” affects the number of participants needed in clinical trials.
