Description:
Patient blood management (PBM) involves optimizing anemia and hemostasis with the goal of avoiding unnecessary transfusions. It improves patient outcomes, reduces costs and is considered standard of care. This presentation explores Sanguine, a novel, rapidly flexible data visualization tool for evaluation of PBM practices in meaningful clinical contexts.
Learning Objectives:
- List limitations of common patient blood management (PBM) performance metrics.
- Analyze Sanguine, a novel data visualization tool prototype for PBM in complex cardiothoracic surgery.
- Consider how data visualization can be used to generate “patients like mine” scenarios.
