Description:
The wide variety of esoteric laboratory tests makes it challenging for hospital laboratories to keep their test menu up to date and perform collections accurately, and for providers to know the appropriate test to order. This program outlines three projects undertaken by the Cleveland Clinic Send-Outs team aimed at enhancing laboratory test stewardship.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the steps needed to perform test menu review.
- Identify three benefits of a trainee-led miscellaneous test request review process.
- List two considerations for ensuring quality and patient access with tests that require specialized kits for collection.
