Description:
Effective stewardship programs require a collaborative approach. While many topics focus on the role of the lab, our allies in other departments are often closer to the contexts in which tests are ordered and patients are managed. This presentation demonstrates the power of data driven approaches that engage specialists beyond the laboratory to optimize diagnostic use and improve patient care.
Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe how integrating specialists into the plasma metagenomic sequencing process improves patient selection and optimizes test utilization.
  2. Recognize key processes that can identify potential blood culture contaminants in pediatric patients, enabling clinicians to avoid unnecessary ED visits and reduce ineffective antibiotic treatments.
  3. Develop effective strategies to engage specialists in initiatives within their own departments.
